How to Arrange Multiple Parts on a 3D Printer Bed

Printing several parts together can save setup time, but it also concentrates the risk: a loose part, poor adhesion or a failed support can affect the whole batch.

Use the 3D Print Bed Layout Planner to compare local STL and 3MF footprints with your saved printer bed. It is a planning aid, not a slicer replacement.

Start with usable bed space

Use the printer's usable build area, not its advertised maximum. Set it in the STL Dimensions Checker. Keep a margin from clips, probes, edge zones and any area your printer profile does not reliably use.

Leave clearance for brims and removal

Set space between parts for the brim, skirt, purge line and a tool to remove a finished part. A layout that only fits bounding boxes may be too tight once adhesion helpers are enabled.

Choose batches, not maximum density

Put parts with similar material, layer height and support needs together. Separate tall or unstable parts when a failure would make the whole batch costly.

Confirm in the slicer

Review each part in the Orientation Planner, then rotate parts, generate supports and inspect travel moves in the slicer before printing. The planner does not inspect collisions, actual outlines, support contact, firmware offsets or first-layer behaviour.

FAQ

Can I print several parts at once?

Often, provided each part fits with sensible clearance and the final slicer layout has been reviewed. Tall, delicate or warp-prone parts can be better printed separately.

Does a rectangular layout prove parts will not collide?

No. A rectangular footprint is a conservative planning aid. Confirm the actual geometry, brims, supports and travel paths in the slicer.
