3D Print Flow Rate Calculator

Use a measured single-wall calibration print to calculate a starting flow-rate correction for your slicer. Your file stays in your browser.

Calculate a starting correction

Enter the intended line width and a clean wall measurement. The result is a starting point for this material and slicer profile.

Use a purpose-made single-wall / vase-mode test for the chosen nozzle and line width. Multi-wall overlap makes this misleading. Temperature, filament, nozzle, line width and speed affect the result. Large corrections warrant checks for line width, filament diameter, partial clogs, extruder steps and measuring method.

How to use this calculator

  1. Slice a single-wall test with the printer, nozzle, material and profile you are calibrating.
  2. Measure several clean areas away from the seam and base.
  3. Enter the expected line width and measured average.
  4. Use the result as a starting value, print again, then stop when walls are consistently close to target.

Flow rate is not dimensional compensation

Flow does not replace hole clearance, XY compensation or whole-model scale compensation. Use the Tolerance & Clearance Calculator for mating parts or the Shrinkage Calculator for consistent whole-part size error.

FAQ

Is flow rate the same as e-steps?

No. E-steps or rotation distance are machine-level extrusion calibration; flow is a material-and-profile slicer adjustment.

Will this fix holes that print too tight?

Not reliably. Holes and pins often need clearance or XY compensation after flow is calibrated.
