Local revision inspection

Compare Two STL Files

Inspect before and after exports in one coordinate frame, then measure sampled distances to the other surface. Models are never silently scaled to match.

Choose revisions

Up to 5 MiB and 100,000 triangles per STL. Unit assumptions apply independently; results are in millimetres.

Ready for revision inspection.

Alignment: original. Applied after translation: 0, 0, 0 mm. Centre translation can hide a deliberate coordinate move; no rotation or rescaling is performed.

Revision metrics

Dimensions, triangle count and surface area alone cannot prove shape equality. Use the batch checker for screened closed-model volume; comparison does not assume a valid solid.

What this method can and cannot tell you

Deterministic area-distributed points are measured against a triangle acceleration structure in both directions. This is a genuine surface comparison, rather than nearest-vertex matching. The unchanged retriangulation control should give effectively zero distance; the widened-cube example has a 4 mm changed surface.

Finite sampling can miss small features. A result under tolerance does not prove equality, and the sampled maximum is not an upper bound for the whole surface. This is not CAD tolerancing, certified metrology, automatic feature identification or a Boolean solid difference.

Check mesh integrity before slicing, or review a collection with consistent reports. Saved revision projects and cloud history are not available.
