Choose Bambu Lab P1S if...
- you can buy it for substantially less in a like-for-like bundle
- you already know the P1S workflow or own compatible AMS hardware
- you need an enclosed P-series printer but not the newer camera and interface
Compare 3D Printers/ Bambu Lab P1S vs Bambu Lab P2S
The P2S adds a newer control and monitoring experience, quick-swap nozzle workflow and a higher stated bed limit. The P1S is still officially available and supported, so it remains sensible when its current bundle price is materially lower or its mature ecosystem already suits the job.
Bambu Lab P1S: $699. Manufacturer store price observed; base printer only. Status: current.
Bambu Lab P2S: $549. Launch starting price reported by Bambu Lab outside tax; US availability and pricing can vary. Status: current.
Prices are indicative, region- and bundle-sensitive, and last checked 2026-09-20. Compare like-for-like base printers, combos and accessories before deciding.
| Feature | Bambu Lab P1S | Bambu Lab P2S |
|---|---|---|
| Build volume | 256 x 256 x 256 mm | 256 x 256 x 256 mm |
| Enclosure | Enclosed | Enclosed |
| Maximum bed temperature | 100 C | 110 C |
| Multicolour | Up to 16 colours with compatible AMS units | P2S Combo includes AMS 2 Pro; add-on support varies by bundle and region |
Both printers have the same stated 256 x 256 x 256 mm build volume, so this is not a size upgrade. The P2S case is a generation and workflow decision rather than a capacity decision.
Bambu Lab describes the P2S as a reengineered P1-series model, but explicitly says its launch does not discontinue the P1S. Compare stock and bundle contents in your region before treating one list price as a saving.
The P2S has a 110 C stated maximum bed temperature versus 100 C on the P1S. That does not by itself guarantee success with a material: nozzle, enclosure conditions, filament guidance and part geometry still matter.
Multicolour jobs can add purge waste and print time on either platform. Estimate the actual job with your slicer values rather than assuming the quoted maximum speed gives an equivalent operating cost.
| Specification | Bambu Lab P1S | Bambu Lab P2S |
|---|---|---|
| Machine dimensions | 389 x 389 x 458 mm | 392 x 406 x 478 mm |
| Maximum nozzle temperature | 300 C | 300 C |
| Maximum claimed speed | 500 mm/s | 600 mm/s |
| Camera | Low-frame-rate 720p camera with timelapse | 1080p high-rate live view |
| Material guidance | Ideal: PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PET, ABS and ASA. PA and PC are listed as capable. | Use official material guidance for the selected nozzle and bundle. Its enclosure and higher bed limit can help with temperature-sensitive jobs. |
Maximum speed is not a job-cost result. Filament, purge waste, print time, energy use and failure allowance all depend on the sliced job. Estimate the real cost of a job on either printer.
It is a newer P-series model, but Bambu Lab states that the P1S remains available and supported. Treat it as an alternative with a newer feature set, not an automatic forced replacement.
Only if the newer interface, monitoring, quick-swap nozzle workflow or other P2S-specific features solve a real friction point. Build volume is unchanged.
InspectMesh compares stated specifications and use-case implications. It has not hands-on tested these printers for this page. Maximum speeds are manufacturer claims, material results vary, and prices are time-sensitive.
