Mesh complexity

STL Triangle Counter

Count triangles in an STL file before slicing, sharing or deciding whether mesh simplification is useful.

Count STL triangles

STL files up to 25 MiB. Pressing Count STL triangles uploads this STL to InspectMesh for server counting. Selecting a file alone does not submit it. To inspect it locally first, open the STL Viewer.

Select a non-empty .stl file, up to 25 MiB.

What the count means

The server reports the triangle records parsed into this mesh, including duplicate or degenerate records that later validation can flag. It does not deduplicate them into unique faces or identify named CAD objects. A count does not prove valid topology or preserved detail. Malformed input and processing failures are not zero-triangle results.

Binary encoding and coordinate precision address storage representation; mesh quality checks address supported findings. Neither supplies a universal recommended triangle count.
