Functional 3D printing tool
3D Print Tolerance & Clearance Calculator
Turn the fit you want into editable hole and pin dimensions, then apply measurements from your own calibration print.
These are nominal model dimensions. Print behaviour can differ from your design dimensions. For an important fit, print a small test first.
Choose the fit you want
Start with the plain-language intent. You can always edit the diametral clearance below.
The target produced hole equals the selected counterpart diameter plus diametral clearance. Fixed hardware uses its measured/selected outside diameter; a printed pair uses your target produced pin diameter.
Use measurements from your own calibration print
Enter complete positive measurements only. Nothing is saved automatically or sent to analytics. Add repeats only for comparable features. Apply deliberately; editing readings does not silently change an applied error.
Outside error applies only to a printed pin. In fixed-component mode only the hole error changes a model dimension. Complete any started set before applying; an untouched set remains unmeasured.

Design summary
- Fit intent
- Clearance fit
- Desired diametral clearance
- 0.300 mm
- Radial clearance
- 0.150 mm
- Target printed hole diameter
- 10.300 mm
- Modelled hole diameter
- 10.300 mm
Formula: target printed hole = selected counterpart diameter + desired diametral clearance. Modelled hole = target printed hole - measured hole error. Modelled pin = target produced pin - measured outside error (printed pair only). Radial clearance = C/2 for ideal concentric circular features.
Assumption: calibration errors are representative of this printer, material, orientation and settings. This calculator does not guarantee that printed parts will fit.

Assumptions: H = counterpart + C; model hole = H - eH; model pin = P - eP only for a printed pair. Errors are local additive assumptions for comparable size, orientation and process, not global scale. Applied errors may differ from the current readings until Apply is selected.
Planning record, not certified inspection or production acceptance. Range is recorded spread, not instrument uncertainty or total manufacturing tolerance. Only comparable sizes, orientations and conditions may share a set. Validate the proposed adjustment with a representative test.
JSON retains full numerical precision; this readable worksheet rounds calculated values to six decimal places.
