STL volume and weight

STL Volume Calculator

Calculate a supported enclosed-volume value from an STL mesh and interpret it under an explicit coordinate-unit assumption. Optional density arithmetic estimates solid mass; it does not predict the material used by a sliced job.

Calculate your STL volume

Pressing Calculate volume uploads your STL to InspectMesh for server processing. Choose the source coordinate unit when interpreting the result. Read the processing and privacy policy.

Select a non-empty .stl file, up to 25 MiB.

Choose the next action from the volume state

StateMeaningNext action
Available supported volume This method supplied an enclosed-volume value under its screens Confirm unit and intended solid scope
UnavailableA validity or scope condition prevented a supported valueDiagnose the volume finding; do not substitute zero
Processing error or missing reportNo completed measurement from this attemptResolve the stated input or processing issue
Available volume plus densityOptional solid-mass arithmeticUse complete sliced consumption for material planning

The current server method requires valid geometry, one connected component, no open or over-shared edges and consistent winding. An available magnitude does not determine the intended cavity or establish a Boolean union of overlapping surfaces. Screens can miss intersections.

Interpret a known control under its unit

The closed 20-coordinate cube has 12 triangles and analytical volume 8,000 mm³ = 8 cm³ under a millimetre assumption. With the same bytes interpreted as inches, its span becomes 508 mm and volume increases by 25.4³. The result's unit selector changes interpretation; it does not re-export a resized model.

A 40 × 30 × 10 block with an 8 mm square passage can have zero exposed edges and analytical material volume 11,360 mm³. A missing-face cube instead leaves an unfinished boundary. The 27 October 2026 local processor record reports approximately 8,000 and 11,360 mm³ for the closed controls and unavailable volume for the open cube. It is the processor code path run locally, not a deployed endpoint test. Downloading an example never submits a server job; choose the file above and press Calculate volume deliberately.

Use sliced consumption for production planning

Density multiplied by available volume gives solid mass. A percentage adjustment does not include the slicer's separate walls, top/bottom layers, supports, purge or arrangement. Use the final job's complete material estimate in the production cost calculator. Missing volume supplies no mass estimate.

For interior design use the cavity workflow; for result interpretation use units and solid-validity diagnosis. Opening locally and submitting to this server calculator are separate actions.
