A Practical File-Quality Handoff for STL Model Sellers

Substantially updated 2026-10-26. First published 2026-10-04.

Deliver the intended model files, their coordinate interpretation and a review record for those exact revisions. Check the inventory separately from mesh findings: a clean base file cannot tell you that the required spacer is missing.

Declare the intended delivery inventory

This worked record uses the existing Try example kit collection action: one base, one deliberately open-face cover and one spacer. The generated boxes are not a mechanically fitted enclosure, an executed CAD export or a validated physical print. No operator identity or sales-ready release is invented.

Run the existing kit and inspect actual findings

Filled generated-kit record - unresolved cover remains visible
File / quantity / revision Reference X / Y / Z Serialized identity Local topology observation SHA-256
kit-base-r01.stl; one; r01 60 × 40 × 4 mm 684 bytes; 12 triangles 0 boundary edges; volume 9600 mm³ 2ed5096dadf3b28397083a787b0bb03bfa97e685a65fc085b4964244844c2cfc
kit-cover-review-r01.stl; one; r01 60 × 40 × 2 mm 584 bytes; 10 triangles 4 boundary edges; volume unavailable 524a1b2c0cdc2fe0f9f649e47a2ca84fa95cd40894ba720d30ad72dd417722ad
kit-spacer-r01.stl; one; r01 8 × 8 × 12 mm 684 bytes; 12 triangles 0 boundary edges; volume 768 mm³ 100d07335e73703d6c9e67b813944bbe6d3b7459b9d68c80513734237668fdf6

All three files completed parsing/checking under a millimetre STL assumption, 1.2 mm sampled-wall review threshold and no selected printer. Completed processing is not approval: the cover has four boundary edges and unavailable volume. Nominal printer fit is skipped; intersections, nested-solid interpretation, supports and physical performance are outside this screen.

The actual collection JSON and CSV report were generated through the existing local report functions. They retain per-file findings, settings and skipped/review states. This is a reproducible local-function observation, not a claim about the deployed UI.

Check inventory separately and verify saved revisions

Select only base and cover to illustrate an omission: the human inventory review notices the required spacer is absent; the checker does not know that requirement. Remaining reports can be unchanged. Compare exact output names and quantities with the intended release, preserve prior revisions and compare a changed derivative before replacing it.

Prepare the recipient record

Blank reusable release manifest - unanswered fields do not imply a pass
Field Record
Project / release
Prepared by / date
Intended files and quantity
Delivered filename / revision / SHA-256 where available
STL coordinate unit or relevant 3MF package note
Named reference dimensions
Required features / intended separate pieces
Checks actually completed and method/settings
Failed / skipped / unsupported / unresolved checks
Changes since prior release
Slicer review, if actually performed
Physical testing, if actually performed
Recipient's next action
Release decision and unresolved owner

Download the filled kit release record (JSON) or the separate blank manifest (CSV). Keep original model files with the report: browser history contains labels/findings, not geometry or a cloud backup. For general checks use the existing preflight record.

Release decision: hold the unresolved demonstration

Do not release this kit as unconditionally ready to sell or print. The source author/operator must resolve what the cover should contain and re-export if the missing face is unintended. Slicer review and physical testing are unperformed, not passed. The record's prepared-by and prior-release fields remain unknown. A quotation or licence entitlement cannot be inferred from mesh findings.

A model-file delivery differs from physical-production intake: production needs its own agreed material, sliced scope, work and pricing. Keep rights/licence permissions and use suitability as separate responsibilities; these generated controls establish neither a customer's rights nor manufactured fit.
